Tips & Tricks for your perfect wedding invitation

Tips & Tricks for your perfect wedding invitation

YES! The question has been asked, and now? Where do we start? .. You have to arrange a lot for your wedding day, you may become mentally, physically or emotionally exhausted. That’s a sin because the anticipation is really as much fun as your wedding day itself! The big day is approaching and it is time for designing and sending your wedding invitations. To avoid wedding stress we have 7 great tips for the perfect wedding card especially for you.

1. Time

Usually the wedding invitations will be sent approximately 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding. Now you might think, no the sooner I send it the better, but alas no, the chances are great that the guests will lose their wedding invitation somewhere. Of course it is wise if you get married in a busy (vacation) time to send a ‘Save the Date’ card a few months in advance. This is a casual card announcing that you are getting married on a certain date, so all the guests can keep this date free.

Remember that it still takes time in the proces of making your wedding card, think about the design, think about texts, any photo shoot, corrections, delivery of printing, writing the envelopes and of course the shipping time. Start on time so that it can run without any stress, this is all for your unique wedding invitations ofcourse!

2. Text

Write all the information succinctly. Use the same verb, who is announcing the wedding? Do you announce the wedding yourselves (we are getting married, K & C) or does someone else writes it (K & C are getting married)? And don’t forget the most essential elements including the date, your names and all the practical information such as the location and times. Further details such as a personal text, any dress code and gift ideas are possible, but it is obviously not necessary. Let someone else check the text for spelling mistakes before you send it to the designer, often you don’t longer see the mistakes yourselves and it would be a shame if the spelling is incorrect.

Finally, ask your guests if they can confirm whether they will actually come, and mention the way how they can confirm this. Ask your guests to confirm in two weeks after receiving the wedding invitation to r.s.v.p. (please answer whether or not you are planning to come). Then you will know in advance how many guests will come.

3. Budget

Unfortunately, people often expect a custom-made wedding card is as cheap as the standard designs you can choose from .. costs are estimated wrongly. Keep this in mind, and of course everyone knows that a single card at the bookstore will also costs like two euros. You consciously choose the perfect wedding invitation, totally custom made, for that unique card that nobody else has. A low-budget wedding card is also possible, but please then take it into account that everything is possible. Choose consciously, think about the size of the card, the paper type, the paper thickness and the special onlay. During the conversation with your designer it is wise to indicate this, so nobody will be surprised.

4. The style

Most couples choose a wedding invitation that can be found in the indexes and / or online. Often they do miss something into those thousands of wedding invitations, and that is because it is not fully custom. You miss those special characteristics that suits you, that personal touch that you want to transfer to your guests. It always comes handy if you have searched for some inspiration if you have an interview with the designer!

The text is an important element of your perfect wedding invitation, but of course, just not as important as the layout of the invitation. Here you can loose all your creativity, but it is nice to have the cards in the same style matching with the style of the wedding. So choose for those special features that really fits yourselves, but also think about an appropriate font that suits you. Each font has its own character and therefore it radiates, there are thousands choices .. To make it easier for the designer, choose from an ornate font or just a all sleek and modern typeface. And don’t forget that the right colors are essential too, maybe you go for the whole bright colors or maybe pastel shades. Know what suits yourselves, it really makes the wedding invitation you!

5. Papertypes

Fortunately, you have already talked with your designer about the different types of paper. The design process is finished now, but it is not physically yet. Also important that the right choices are made. There are thousands types of paper, but everyone’s real favorite is the smooth white paper with shimmer and a little linen look. The different types of paper are very diverse in price. So keep your budget in mind to make the right choice.

6. Printer

And there it is, the perfect design as you had it in mind, but it still has to go to the printshop. Probably most designers will take this step in their process. Now you can be sure of yourself, since you just don’t know enough about it. One thing we are absolutely sure about is that you can’t print the invites at home, this special day, which will happen once in your life, should be well defined. So choose for real printing at a printshop!

7. Extra’s

When you order the wedding invitations it is always useful to order the matching thank you cards with it. Often these are free of charge because it just fits into the paper of the wedding invitations, always use this option! The Dutch version

JA! De vraag is gesteld, en nu? Waar beginnen we mee? ..
